Abstract


Pineapple which has the scientific name Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) Is one of the tropical fruit commodities produced by some regions of Indonesia. But it has problems in the form of providing pineapple seeds. One alternative solution to this problem is using the hormone auxin. One of the often used auxin hormones is IBA. The hormone has the function of encouraging cell extension, cell division, differentiation of xylem and phloem tissue. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of IBA hormone concentration on root growth in pineapple crowns and the optimal concentration of IBA hormones to initiate the formation of pineapple crown roots so that it is expected to multiply the seeds of planting quickly. The study design was used a complete randomized design with three replications. The concentrations of IBA hormones used are 0 ppm, 0.2 ppm, 0.4 ppm, 0.6 ppm, and 0.8 ppm. The observation parameters were analyzed using SPPS 24. Based on the results of the study, it was found that IBA could initiate the formation of pineapple crown roots. 0.4 ppm IBA concentration is the best concentration to initiate rooting of pineapple crowns cuttings.
