Abstract

The research on extraction of pectin compounds had been conducted from leaves karet kebo (Ficus elastica Roxb.). Pectin is a compound that is useful for lowering cholesterol, blood sugar levels, and as a sbscess medicine. Kebo rubber leaves grow in a lot of around the environment, but not many have used it yet. Based on this, the research was conducted to determine the characteristic content of pectin compounds in kebo rubber. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of pectin compounds on kebo rubber leaves. The method was used reflux extraction method. The extraction results were then analyzed using FTIR. The results showed that ash content and water content in reflux extraction were 0.2274% and 8.1571% respectively. The pectin group was present in reflux extraction, which is –OH appears on 3468,586 cm-1, C = O esters in clusters 1634,188 cm-1, C-O ether in the cluster 1102,800 cm-1
