HUBUNGAN ANTARA KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL DENGAN HIGH SENSITIVITY C-REACTIVE PROTEIN (hsCRP) PADA PEROKOK AKTIF DI DUSUN GAMBIREJO RW 03 DESA WARUJAYENG
Abstract
Cigarettes are products that contain addictively subtances. The nicotine in cigarettes can increase the secretion of catacolamine thereby increasing lipolysis, levels of total cholesterol and lipid peroxide. Lipid peroxide toxicity causes oxidative stress and systemic inflammation which plays a role in producing CRP. This study aims to determine the relationship of total cholesterol levels with High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hsCRP) in active smokers in Gambirejo Hamlet RW 03 Warujayeng Village, Nganjuk Regency. The design of this study uses a crossectional survey method. The population of this study was moderate to severe active smokers as many as 69 people. The population was obtained using purposive sampling method, which was 15 samples. The average level of total cholesterol in active smokers is 193.6 mg / dl, the average smoker's hsCRP level is 3.21 mg / L. Analysis of the data used is the Pearson correlation test because the data are normally distributed. The results of this study found that there was a correlation between the total cholesterol level and hsCRP in active smokers with a value of p = 0,000 (<0.05). The correlation coefficient of total cholesterol level with hsCRP in active smokers (r = 0.942). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between total cholesterol level and hsCRP in active smokers with a very strong correlation level.
